may need to consider an urologist
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Burning discomfort or any pain on urination is called dysuria.
Dysuria is most commonly caused by infection, a sample of urine should have been sent to the lab to determine conclusively if an infection is present.
The lab would be able to see if any bacteria is actually present in the urine, they would also determine which antibiotics would work against it and which ones the bacteria is resistant towards
If the lab has not identified a bacteria, then the dysuria is not likely caused by an infection
Other causes of dysuria are: (1)urethral stricture. The urethra is the tube that runs from the bladder through the penis.
If there is any narrowing of this tube/urethra- it can cause burning
(2)BPH (benign prostatic hypertrophy)- non cancer enlargement of the prostate can also result in discomfort as well
(3)medications or food- bladder irritating foods, nifedipine,
Bladder irritating foods include: alcohol, apples, apple juice, beer, canteloupe, carbonated drinks, cheese, spicy food, chocolate, coffee, onions, tomatoes, vinegar- these are only some of the bladder irritating foods listed in XXXXXXX Clinic
(4)interstitial cystitis- this refers to irritation of the bladder that can be associated with discomfort, the exact cause is not known. There are meds specifically for these eg elmiron
(5)presence of a mass in the bladder or other area of the urinary tract
Imaging of the urinary tract by ultrasound would be helpful to check for any structural changes
It may be best to consider seeing a urologist for complete assessment
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
