default
Posted on Mon, 9 Oct 2023
Question: I have been experiencing redness in the eyes for about 3 weeks. I am using eyedrops for allergy and itching in the eyes. This morning I woke up with green mucus coming from the one eye. The night before this eye was tearing. Visiting Ohio from Florida. Home I am staying at had some plumbing work done last week. Most of the dust was contained but some is in the air and rug. When I sleep, I get a dull pain the eye and that has been happening for 3 weeks. Putting pressure on the eye relieves the dull pain.

Brief Answer:
Probably conjunctivitis ,follow he advice below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to conjunctivitis. It is caused by an infection of the conjunctiva. The green mucus that comes from the one eye is possibly related to a bacterial infection.

Some advice that I can give to you are:
-Use prescribed antibiotic eye drops for local treatment. I usually prescribe Tobramycine eye drops to treat this diagnosis. You should consult your doctor about this treatment.
-Use oral antihistamines to relieve the itching
-Use steroid eye drops to relieve the inflammation.
-Keep your eyes clean, wash them frequently. I also suggest you to wash the hands before touching the eyes
-Use a warm compress for local relief

If the symptoms continue you should consult an ophthalmologist for an examination and further treatment. Prescribed oral antibiotics may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks
