Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

Clavicle fractures are often caused by a direct blow to the shoulder. This can happen during a fall onto the shoulder, fall on an outstretched hand or a car collision. However these are very painful and may make it hard to move the arm. The symptoms especially pain and swelling may appear immediately after the fall and then after the swelling has subsided, the fracture can be felt through the skin or may cause referred pain in the surrounding area.

If your child is complaining of pain in outer thigh and neck then even a small fracture like hair line fracture and a muscle strain, ligament sprain, muscle rupture etc need to be ruled out. For this preferably an immediate X-ray or MRI should be done.

With time, the symptoms may aggravate, so it is advisable to get an x-ray, MRI done as soon as possible.

Till then, apply warm compresses on the area and take some over the counter anti-inflammatory pain killer. Application of topical muscle relaxants will also help.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.
