Question: my father (78) had been on AICD and PR is set to 70 dated 29th March 2023. He keeps his BP 95/ 65 to 105 / 75 most of the time. ...................29th November 2023, he felt uneasy with feeling like vomit but couldn't vomit with heavy sweating when BP and Sugar levels were normal at that time but so we reached nearest hospital where in fever arround more than 100 was found while. there after x- ray he was found having chest infection. no cold, no cough, no phelgum, no mucus. after giving anti-biotics for 5 days it wasn't controlled........................... 4thDec.2023 thereafter doctors started IV 1000mcg every 8 hours FAROPENEM which causes fever to bring down the to 98° Fh. normal on approx 3rd day of dosage of FAROPENEM but ran upto 11th dec.2023 (total 7 days) other in the hospital prescriptions can also be shared. 11th Dec.2023 after lying at hospital for almost 13 days my father got Discharged with an oral prescription of FAROPENEM 300mcg twice a day. COPY OF DISCHARGE SUM..ENCLOSED.........................16th Dec.2023 Visited hospital for review and complaint of shortness in breath on walking in the last week was developed. CT scan was done as advised COPY ENCLOSED. Found other part of lung is infected while it was 5th day of taking FAROPENEM oral 300mcg BD (had already 7 days IV 1000mcg every 8H at hospital) but one sign that there was no fever. during hospital period from 29th Nov. to 11. dec. there was repetition of sweating while spontaneously checked fever / BP and Diabetes were found to have been Normal with no chest pain or not any other symptoms. ..........NOW today on 17th Dec. we came back from CT scan review where in problem areas is still found in lungs. Doctor remained not so concluding asked us to come again on Monday on 18th Dec.2023. Right now at 2am 17th dec. My father again find sweating with normal BP and normal diabetes and no chest pain or not any other symptoms.
IS THERE ANY PROBABILITY THAT WHILE HAVING FOOD IN PROPER SITTING POSITION, THAT A very MICRO PARTICLE GOES INTO respiratory track and creating infection because WHENEVER my father eats food he often gets hick-ups once in every meal.???

DISCHARGE SUM. ENCLOSED YESTERDAY CT SCAN REPORT ENCLOSED. BLOOD TESTS ENCLOSED.

Brief Answer:
Hi kindly read below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have read your query and understood your concern.
Incase of food particle in lung field the aspiration would be detected in the CT scan and X ray . Considering elderly age with heart alignment, pneumonia and pleural effusion repeated infection with residue is suspected. I would recommend a pulmonologist opinion for further evaluation and management.

Regards,.
