Question : Hi, I had a colonoscopy/endoscopy today and before I was sedated my anesthesiologist gave me a shot through my IV of something she said was in the Xanax family. The procedure was done at around 1pm, when will it be ok to resume my normally perscribed Xanax treatment (I haven't taken a dose since 9pm last night)
Brief Answer:
Midazolam
Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I am Dr.Barani and I am pleased to assist you.
Your doctor would have probably given you Midazolam.
The effect of midazolam lasts for about an hour.
It may sometimes persist for a maximum of 6 hours.
You can take your regular medication after that.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.Barani
