For Several Months Now, My Mouth Has Been Extremely Dry.

Question: For several months now, my mouth has been extremely dry. This appears to be a possible symptom, and not something that is normal. Will you be able to tell me whether this symptom has been caused by any medications/supplements I have been taking, being their side-effects? Or could it be a side effect from my Lupron injections on a monthly basis since February, 2018?

Hi...
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

Dry mouth might be due to multiple reasons including health conditions like diabetes, nephropathy,Alzheimer's disease or due to some autoimmune diseases.
It might be due to dehydration or normally due to mouth breathing or smoking .
It is also a side effect of many drugs.

Lupron is very unlikely to have caused it.

Kindly elaborate your health condition,co morbidities, other symptomatology and the drugs which you are on.
This would help me to evaluate you further.

Keep yourself well hydrated.
Avoid coffee,alcohol and smoking(if applies).
Have candies/gums frequently to stimulate your salivary glands.
Have Ginger which has sialagogue action(salivary stimulation).
Avoid mouth breathing.

Happy living.
Regards.
