Foul Smelling Umbilicus Since Surgery, Burning Sensation On Workout. Reason?

Question: Hi I am writing in concern about my umbelicus smelling badly even when it is always kept clean and it hurts. I had multiple surgeries in 2006 in which they opened me up in four places to remove cysts and appendix. One place they opened was my belly button. Ever since that surgery I have had problems with my weight my stomach feels like I have a burning hernia above my belly button and my belly button has always gotten a stinky light yellow discharge. I keep it clean and wash it yet this still develops like it is leaking out but not a lot. A few times I was cleaning it out with a Qtip and they Qtip came out with blood. Then I pushed it in further and it felt like it was going inside my stomach. I'm not very over weight I'm very physically fit but I do have lots of health issues. I'm 26 years old 5'3" and 150lbs I'm very stocky but muscular build the only chubby place on my body is my stomach because it seems like no matter what I do to try and workout my stomach is always hurting or burning so I can't. My biggest concern is it has been years of stinky painful belly button if I poke it or stick something in it, it is very painful. I feel like maybe it is not closed all the way but when I told my regular doctor he said that I was fine and he never looked at it or anything he felt abov my belly button and said that it felt like I could have a tiny hernia and he said just take it easy it will heal on its own. But it feels fine until every time I go to do a pull up or jumping jacks or something that works out my stomach or stretches the muscle then it bulges and feels awful burning. What is it and is it possible that they did not close my belly button after my surgery in 2006 and now it is healed slightly open?

1.) I have had many courses of antibiotics due to other infections like strep and those did nothing for my other concerns. I clean my belly button and use hydrogen peroxide and other antibacterial soaps. I have tried ice and rest and compression on my stomach.

2.) No response from that other than when i clean my belly button it hurts and bleeds. When i ice my belly it feels cool and nice but does not alleviate the issue.

3.) Not diabetic at all and no hypertension, i have very low blood pressure at normal it is 60 over 105.

Today i have another concern that may or may not be related i do not believe it is related. My stomach is twitching, or spasming it is not a feeling i have ever had before it is like an uncontrollable muscle spasm that goes really fast like it is vibrating across the inside of my stomach, it feels tight and slightly painful but more than anything it is just bizare. It starts at my belly button and goes a little below and to the left parallel with the umbelicus. Then it runs slightly up and down from there in an area about four inches, it almost tickles or feels like something crawling inside, but it is painful or uncomfortable.

Thank you, hope you are having a great day!

Hello,
Thanks for providing the details.
I will firstly discuss the problem that you have mentioned initially. Bellybutton is a very common site to perform the laproscopy surgeries as it leaves no scar. The fact there is blood and yellow discharge suggests that there is a wound inside. Now that you have used plenty of antibiotics, there is no sense in starting another blindly. Hydrogen peroxide, I am not sure who advised you, should not be used commonly by self as it causes tissue damage and reduces the chances of healing. First and foremost, request your doctor to send a culture and sensitivity test of your umbilicus discharge. Whatever antibiotics the test suggests should be used. There are some dry local application antibiotics like neosporin but then let the doctor send the culture and senstivity test.
Now the burning pain and the gaping feeling, it could be hernia and many times occurs after abdominal surgeries. You should try avoiding doing abdominal exercises and let the hernia site close first. You doing such exercises may exacerbate the things by increasing the abdominal pressure.
Coming to your second query the uncomfortable tingling senstation that you are feeling could be spasm with twitches. It may not be related with your umbilicus problem. It occurs sometimes without any specific reason. You can wait for a day or 2 and if it doesnt resolve on its own , you should visit your doctor who would like you go through an ultrasound examination.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
