Brief Answer:
Aspirin is an antiplatelet agent

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Aspirin is an antiplatelet agent and can help prevent clots forming in arteries like those of the heart and brain in at-risk individuals. Usually it is used to prevent stroke and heart attack.

If patient has higher risk then additional treatment like clopidogrel or anticoagulants like heparin may be required.

It is usually not effective in dissolving clots.

Hope this helps.
