if no visual disturbance or worsening then can go
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Itching normally occurs as part of an allergic reaction though some persons may only have swelling.
Benadryl would work similarly to claritine , the main difference would be that the benadryl would make you sleepy. Benadryl is one of the older antihistamines and some state these work better than the newer ones eg claritine but this response varies from one person to the next.
In addition to the use of the claritine or benadryl, you should consider a warm compress to the area, 2 to 3 times daily for 10 to 15 mins if possible.
If there is any visual disturbance or the swelling worsens or additional symptoms eg discharge, then you should be seen.
if there is no worsening, then it is safe to your appointment
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
