Question : my son fell yesterday hit his head right side lump behind the ear and large amount of brusing on his neck today when he woke up

hello and thanks for the query.
The injury on mastoid bone ( bone just behind ears) resulting in bruising over mastoid process and neck could be a fracture of the middle cranial fossa of skull.
In medical language such bruising is called as BATTLE'S sign.
I advise you not to take it lightly and go to ER for getting a MRI brain.
