Brief Answer: Looks more like fracture in view of gross swelling Detailed Answer: Hello, Looking at the swelling in uploaded images I would surely like to consider possibility of fracture first.A xray would be needed to rule out fracture. Signs of fracture- Pain, swelling, limited movement , abnormal deformity/angulation, unable to bear weight or balance will standing.Importantly when ankle is moved sound or movement of fractured bones can be felt. Meanwhile dont bear weight or walk without support, apply ice, tie up a compression bandage, keep leg elevated whenever possible and take oral analgesics for pain.Follow this till you see your doctor. One more thing even sprained ankle needs doctor's care as torn ligament if any needs good care for better healing. Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask if there are doubts. Regards.
