Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for your query.
I have gone through your query and I want to elaborate on few details regarding diabetes mellitus (DM).
Diabetes is a disease associated with high levels glucose in the blood.
These high levels could be due to inadequate insulin or decreased sensitivity of cells in the body to the action of insulin.
If inadequate insulin - Type 1 DM also called insulin dependent DM.
If less sensitivity to insulin - Type 2 DM also called non insulin dependent DM.
Type 1 DM is present usually is younger age less then 30 years.(teens)
Type 2 DM is present usually in older age more than 40 years. (middle age)
Symptoms include increased frequency of urination, increased thirst, relative weight loss, and some also have fatigue and nausea.
Your symptoms are suggestive of diabetes but have to be confirmed by the following tests:
1. Fasting blood sugar (FBS) - at least 8 hours overnight fast.
2. Urine sugar by dipstick method.
These tests will help confirm the diagnosis of diabetes.
I hope I have cleared your doubts.
Thanks.
