Question: i have rheumatoid arthritis osteoarthritis osteoporosis underactive thyroid hypercalcaemia fybromyalgiahigh blood pressure among other things.I have been in agony with burning pain in calves and ankles for three years.i do several foul smelling loose stool shortly after getting up in morning and have little sleep with the pain. I had a microdiscectomy last november to release a nerve from prolapsed discs which helped for a while but the pain is so bad i am now unable to sleep. i was on morphine for nine months a year ago but my specialist abruptly stopped it.the only painkiller i have is paracetamol which has no effect. I was prescribed lyrica recently but had to stop it because of breathing difficulties and the fact it did not help my pain.i have begged for pain relief but am just being left to suffer. Please can you help me?

Hello,

Welcome to XXXXXXX Thanks for your query.

It is the natural course of the disease to produce tremendous pain.
Your are suffering from an autoimmune and degenerative disease of the bone and cartilage and it is progressive in nature if it is not medically intervened.

The medicines for the diseases you're suffering are mostly nephrotoxic and hepatotoxic.

At your age care should be taken to avoid any such complications.

So before prescribing any drug renal and hepatic parameter should to monitored.

You can try non medicational relief methods.

1. Physiotherapy. Supervised physiotherapy of the affected joints.

2. Relaxation and yoga exercises.

If oral medications are contraindicated they Transdermal patches of opioids can be used.

Hope the answer helps you.
