Dear dr ,

I am a 32 year old male . my recent exposure was with another male . it was just a kiss and he bit and sucked my nipple .

I didn’t notice any bleeding. it it hurt a bit for a few seconds a and then it was fine .

My worry is what is the risk of hiv from this incident ? i don’t know his status . I am a bisexual male but i have never had anal sex . Even oral sex is very very rare .

have u come across an hiv case from such an incident ? plz advise . thanks

dear doctor ,

thanks for your reply . i was a bit worried since u had recommend that i should take pep .

I was reading an article online. it had come in parts too that one person had contracted hiv from a human bite , hence was a bit anxious .

I am very anxious person and i still have not had vaginal or anal sex ever . Have mot indulged in oral sex either (except protected oral sex about three times )

I googled and read a few cases of hiv from bite , however those seemed more like the bites people get during fights . etc . Please advise . Thanks

As per Centers for Diseases control in XXXXXXX US, the HIV transmission risk through bite is negligible as I had quoted already. But not Nil.
I am managing HIV cases for the past 33 years. I hadn't come across any such case so far.
Regarding oral sex, it is said to be low HIV risk.
But I had come across three or four cases of HIV transmission through oral sex. So it is better to have a protected or better avoid oral sex with unknown person.
