Having Abdominal Pains And Pins And Needles In Hand. What Might Be Causing This?
Question: Hi I am having abdominal pains and pins and needles in my hand. I had a ultrasound in case I had ovarian cysts but it was clear. I had a baby 9 months ago and a c-section with post operative ileus afterwards but do not think this would be related but thought you might need this as background info.MyGP has felt my stomach and said it is not appendicitis. I also had an ultrasound on my lower abdomen in case of ovarian cysts and it was clear. I have also been having pins and needles in my hands. What might this be.

If this is also associated with change in the color of your
palms, this might indicate a condition called "Raynaud's
Phenomenon XXXXXX There are two different forms of this.
One is called Primary, where there is no underlying disease
and this is more common. Exposure to cold causes sensitivity
and gives the kind of changes.
The other is called secondary, because it is associated with certain
diseases.
Lupus,Scleroderma,Rheumatoid Arthritis,Sjogren's syndrome,
Diseases of arteries,Carpal tunnel syndrome,smoking,Injuuries to
hands and feet, Some medications including Beta blockers such
as propranolol and exposure to some chemicals can also do this.
I know , I have given you a very long list of things !
But trying to connect your abdominal pains to the hand symptoms
requires some detective work. I would recommend a complete set
of blood work to include tests for rheumatoid arthritis, Systemic
Lupus Erythematosus.
A condition called "Abdominal Migraine XXXXXX is seen in some instead of
classic headache. This is more common in children.
I would also advice that you see a neurologist to make sure you
don't have some kind of "Neuropathy XXXXXX that is seen in diabetics.
Hope there is no strong family history of diabetes.
