Using Cough suppresent with expectorant...some better, but not well and still coughing up some yellow phlegm with difficulty. How long should this last?? Anything I can do to stop coughing spells laying down at night?

Brief Answer:
should subside in 2 weeks

Hi,
Hi,
Thanks for posting the query on XXXXXXX After going through your query, I would like to comment the following:
1. A c/o acute bronchitis usually requires a 2 weeks course of antibiotics.
2. Suppresant and expectorant should not be taken together as both have opposing actions.
3. If you are requiring a course of steroids, that means that there may have been some airway hyper responsiveness. If possible get a PFT (Pulmonary function test done). You may require short course of inhalers for control of cough.
4. If there is associated cold, antihistaminics and nasal spray may be required. Sometimes , associated cold is responsible for increased cough in lying down position.
5. Please get yourself clinically evaluated by aPulmonologist in detail.
I hope I have answered your query. I will be glad to answer follow up queries if any.
Please accept my answer if you have no follow up queries.
