Question: i am coughing up blood .Taking prednisolone +Augmentin 625mg prednisolone 5mg 8 tablets daily taking all at the same time.Reason to seek Doc advice (chest Infection)

You have not mentioned why you are taking prednisolone and augmentin and do you suffer from any lung condition? The quantity of blood and frequency is also important and are you sure you are coughing and it`s not coming from your stomach because heavy doses of steroids can cause gastric erosions which may bleed. These are important issues that need to be looked into.

You need to consult a pulmonologist and undergo certain tests so that appropriate diagnosis can be made and remedial measures taken.

If the quantity of blood is excessive say more than a cupful you need to go to the ER of a hospital so that you can be started on treatment and if required a bronchoscopy can be performed to arrest the bleeding.
