                                    Brief Answer:
usually not for life
Detailed Answer:
Hi
HPV(HUMAN PAPILLOMA VIRUS) is the usual causative factor. Most of the HPV infection clears from most women in 9-15 months. Persistent infection occurs in a few women. But, if persistent infection occurs with high risk types of HPV then it becomes a high risk factor for many malignancies(mainly cervical cancer).
So, you should be cautious and first of all, confirmation of your diagnosis is must for further proceedings.
