Question : These are my symptoms for the past two days
1. Dry cough - semi violent, mostly at night
2. some incontinence
3. Throat irritation
4. No fever
5. No Phlegm
6. Hot water gargle (once a day)
Can you recommend some medicine that will ease the coughing? Thanks

According to the symptoms mentioned you are most probably suffering from viral upper respiratory infection or an allergic cough .
The following measures may help in relief.
1. Warm salt water or betadine solution gargles thrice daily .
2. Steam inhalations thrice daily.
3. Antihistamine medications in syrup or tablet forms like cetrizine or chlorpheniramine ( alocet, levocet, chericoff etc)
4. Cough lozenges( like XXXXXXX cough lozenges or strepsils etc)
5. If cough persists beyond a week kindly consult your doctor for confirmation of diagnosis and preferably a course of antibiotics .
