Question : Yes I need to know if a 65 y.o. male took Glucophage and actually wasn't diabetic could it have killed him?

                                    Hello,
Thanks for your query.
Metformin(Glucophage) is an anti diabetic drug. It acts by increasing the sensitivity of the body cells (muscles and fat cell) to utilize insulin for the metabolism of glucose. So it is an insulin sensitizer.
In elderly, dose of metformin is adjustment based on the serum creatinine value. In the right dose, it will not kill a person if he or she is not a diabetic. In fact it is indicated in other conditions like PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome), Obesity, Insulin resistance, etc.
Hope the answers your query. Pleased to answer other queries.
