Question : i am having issues with my periods,i have only menstrated only once this year,my doctor gave me progesterone in oil 100mg yet no menses,i have done pelvic scan yet all seems well.

Not having periods for such long and not even after taking progesterone needs thorough evaluation.

Tests like Serum FSH(Follicle-stimulating hormone), LH (Luteinizing hormone), Estradiol, thyroid function tests(free T3, T4 & TSH) & Serum Prolactin would be essential to identify the cause.

If endometrial thickness by scan is normal then oestrogen and progesterone tablets for 21 days, would show a response.

Other rare causes for SECONDARY AMENORRHOEA are premature ovarian failure, ashermanns syndrome, PCOS...All things to be kept in mind before you being evaluated.
