Hi,

Thanks for writing in.

Well, From your history of severe pain in throat, acute in onset, it seems that you are suffering from Acute Pharyngitis.

Acute Pharyngitis is viral in nature, extremely painful condition, with pain and difficulty in swallowing. It sometimes follows an attack of viral fever.

Now, for this acute attack, you will have to take certain measures immediately.

1- Warm saline gargles every 2 hourly.( if possible add some betadine in it).

2- Avoid cold diet.

3- Maintain hydration, take XXXXXXX warm water

4- You may take some analgesic and antiinflammatory tablet.

These were the first aid or you may say home remedies. Also consult a PCP for further examination. The doctor will prescribe you antibiotic and antiinflammatory drugs for at least a week.

Please dont worry, it is a very common problem and you will be all rite.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
