A few weeks ago I noticed spots on my groin. They seemed to go away but now they are back and are more red and are itchy. (Especially during the night )

I have gone through your query and reviewed the attached photographs.
it seems to be an eczematous rash.
I would recommend you to apply topical steroid and antifungal cream like clobetasol propionate and miconazole cream ( Tenovate M cream) on the affected areas twice daily along with antihistaminic like tablet fexofenadine 180 mg twice daily for 10 days.
This should resolve your condition.
