Question: Hello Doc, my tongue is bleeding when I clean the tongue with my brush. I use a very soft brush. I noticed first thing in the morning and again in the night

Tongue surface is soft and is made of numerous microscopic finger like structures called papillae.Tongue has abundant blood supply. Even though you use soft brush if you apply slighest of pressure for removing the layer if debris can cause bleeding. So I suggest you to reduce the pressure while scrubbing the tongue.Otherwise you can use a plastic tongue scraper without pressure. Also I must say even if bleeds it doesnt have problem as it will heal rapidly, so nothing much to get tensed. Please take lots of oranges, lemon, guava etc which supplies vitamin c as it can help in reducing wound healing time (in case it bleeds after reduced pressure application with soft brush).Besides all these stay calm.
