Hello Doctor. Are There Oral Over The Counter Supplements That

Are there oral over the counter supplements that can be taken for increasing testosterone levels? in other questions, I had stated that I had been on Axiron for 5 months with no significant results. ( actually, I am not sure if this is a side effect but my testicles have reduced in size). I am getting quite concerned as to whether I should pursue any additional treatment from my doctor or if there was a supplement I can begin taking that may help give things a " boost", since there has not been any in a long time.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Regards
Size may be decreased by exogenous testosterone
Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, oral testosterone is available in form of methyl testosterone etc but it's usually not sold in many countries as over the counter drug. Also it is associated with serious side effects so shouldn't be used unless recommended by an endocrinologist.
Oral testosterone producing drugs is also a difficult area as many products are sold including herbal or Homeo with the claim to increase the testosterone. Though FDA data regarding their safety profile and efficacy is scanty. These include ginkobiloba, Ginseng, veyrona and many others but the mechanism whether is through testosterone rise or not, is not proven.
Also the decrease in testes size can occur if exogenous testosterone is given which supress testes to produce natural testosterone. These shoul be reviewed by a urologist if persistantly remain decreased in size.
Other causes of decreased libido, like depression or vitamin deficiencies should be ruled out and treated properly for a better outcome. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards
