Question : Hello Doctor,

I am XXXXXXX I got a finger cut while I was chopping veggies. It was almost 48 hours since I got this cut. Bleeding was stopped after 3 minutes of the cut and I felt some pain and used NEOSPIRIN ointment till now. After reading about the cuts and wounds I just want to ensure if my cut need stitches or any other medical assistance because it is like almost 1 inch lengthy cut. But I am not feeling any pain now. so requesting your suggestion for further proceedings.

Hi.
Noted your history well.
Posting an actual photograph would have helped me.
If the cut is 1 inch in length then surely this may need stitches. Pain is not an indication.
If the depth is more or if the wound has separate edges then stitches will help for early and proper healing.
Plus you may need a tetanus shot.

Thanks alot for your kind response Doctor. Actually I uploaded the pic of my cut . I don’t know why it couldn’t received by you. I had tetanus shot 2 years back. So is it necessary now?

If you have had proper booster shot history then the effect of tetanus injection lasts for 5-10 years.
