Question: Hello Doctor

I had a c-section delivery on 9th Dec 2019. Since late Dec, I started having body pains. I almost always have pain in my legs, hips and back. Sometimes I also feel pain in my arms and knees. This pain is similar to the pain experienced after extreme workout.

It%E2%80%99s getting difficult for me to sit cross legged on the bed to feed my baby because of the pain in the knees and legs. Its also sometimes difficult for me to get up with the baby in my arms.

I am not doing any exercise currently apart from a 20-30 min walk every day. These pains are becoming worse day by day.

Is this normal? What can I do to cure these pains?

I am currently taking Shelcan HD and Softeron Capsule once daily.

Brief Answer:
I will recommend detailed blood testing

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This is not normal, although its common. In my opinion it could be due to fluid retention, thyroid issues, some calcium or vitamin D deficiency/excess, rheumatoid disorder or arthritis etc.

I will suggest that you do detailed blood test including complete blood count, thyroid profile, serum electrolytes, serum calcium and vitamin D levels, liver function test, kidney function test, RA factor. An orthopedic consultation may also be needed.

I would suggest that you do not sit or lie in same position for prolonged time. Some yoga or stretches are recommended. Drink lots of fluids, clean drinking water, drink atleast 2 glasses of milk, high calorie foods, take ibuprofen 200 mg upto 2 times aday.

Hope this helps. let me know if I can assist you further.
