Question : Hello Doctor. I have a question in regards to neck pain.
For several years now I have suffered off and on with left arm and shoulder pain. Xray's indicated I had issues with my Rotator Cuff and I went to physical therapy. I still do the exercises from time to time which help. MY issue now is that I am having a flare up once again and am getting sporadic achy type pain in the left arm and neck. In addition, for the last two days I have been getting a sharp pain around the pulse point on the left side of my neck , again this is sporadic but does catch me off guard when it happens. I am not sure what is causing this sharp pain in my neck at that specific point and am very concerned. I, of course, have done some research and do not have any blurred vision, imbalance or any indication of a possible TIA. ( I had one about 10 years ago but that was vision loss and hand numbness on my right side) I guess my question would be would you have any idea as to what could potentially cause this pain in my neck near the pulse point? Thank you for your help ! Regards

Brief Answer:
Cervical spine issues. Spondyloarthrosis possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I don't believe the symptoms may be related to Tia.
I think this can be related to cervical spine issue.
Possibly spondyloarthrosis, inflammation of the structures in cervical spine.
I think you may need to do a xray to check for possible issues of cervical spine such spondylitis or a herniated disc which causes pinched nerve and pain.
You may need to take antinflamatory drugs such advil or naproxen for pain and inflammation.
Use physical therapy and exercises.
Use warm compresses on cervical spine.
Physical therapy and exercises can help you with pain.

Hope I have answered the question.
