Question : Hello Doctor,
My 2 year old daughter was playing on the bed and she accidentally slipped and fell on her face. She hurt her upper lip and it is swollen now. We are applying ice so that the swelling subsides. The underside of her lip is cut a little. I have attached a picture.
What should we do now? Is there some ointment we should apply on the underside of her lip? Or is ice application enough?
Please advise.
Regards,
Ryan

Brief Answer:
Ice is enough
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
I have seen the attached picture.
Based on your description and the image it looks like a small tear. No treatment apart from ice application is required.
Ensure you give plenty of liquids to keep baby hydrated.
For pain paracetamol can be given.
