Recently we are planning to relocate from our house to new house and that house is duplex house with stairs. Lift is not available; I need to climb up and down many times every day. Can you please suggest me climbing stairs every day will effect on my knees? Will my knee pain get more worse? Before moving I want to take a advice from you . Can you please advise me what is right?
Thanks XXXXXXX

Hi there
Thanks for the query
Yes, Chondromalacia patellae can be affected in climbing stairs and may cause pain. It is advisable to try walking stairs now itself and see if it affects you. If it does then you can take a decision on stairs in your house.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

                                    Dear Sir,
Thanks for your reply.
sir, as per your experience, how much chances are there to get affected ?
We are already in planning to move to duplex villa; incase after moving there, if my knee pain gets affected to worse, how to handle it;
secondly is there any solution / treatment for permanent cure of Chondromalacia patella, as now I am only 37 years old only;
Kindly guide me in this regarding
thank you sir

Hi there
Sorry for the delay in answering. It's advisable to consult a knee surgeon as this may need surgery in some cases.
You can arrange for a slope for movement inside the house along with stairs but not usually necessary. Soft footwear should suffice and less number of stairs.
