Question : Hello Dr, Following is the recent Urology history of my father. 1stly as par of preventive annual health checkup abdominal ultrasound was performed. During post consultation Dr. advised to consult a Urologist. Then during follow up consultation with Urologist other 2 tests were performed. Kindly find attached in sequence of occurrences 1. Abdominal ultrasound 2. Urologist consultation 3. Uroflowmetry report 4. PSA total. Kindly advise. Thanks, Ankit Mathur

Hi,

I went through the reports with diligence. The reports show enlarged prostate with smooth margin and significant post void residue. PSA level is also elevated; uroflometry shows features of obstruction. Thee findings are suggestive of BPH. Serious cause like a cancer is less likely. I will recommend a urology consultation for further evaluation.

He will also need to get a urine test (routine/microscopy and culture if needed). He will be started on conservative treatment with medications and PSA level repeated after a while. Surgery and biopsy may be planned if deemed necessary.

Hi,

Thanks for updating. All other reports seems essentially normal. I did not find any concerning parameters there.

In this context, the only finding that is to be explored / evaluated is the PSA value. As I mentioned earlier, it may be risen due to BPH and it can be treated either with medication or surgery. His urosurgeon will take a call on that.
Let me know the status after the next urology appointment.
