Question : Hello

I am 17 weeks pregnant and suffering from terrible insomnia. I have tried benadryl and unisom to no avail. My doctor perscribed ambien. I want to take it every night but don't know how often is ok while pregnant. Please get back to me on this.

Please note that Ambien is classified as category C and can cause dangerous effects on the fetus...It should be strictly avoided during pregnancy...

I would recommend that you get a blood test for thyroid hormonal profile including T3, T4, and TSH to exclude hyperthyroidism as a cause of your insomnia...
