Question : Hello. I am a 21 year old female. For close to 5 weeks now I have been having had pressure and sharp pains that come and go in certain spots if my head. I also feel very unstable when I stand up and like my head is going to explode. I have had a cat scan and it came back negative for bleeding. Do you think it is possible I have an aneurysm?
Brief Answer:
An aneurysm seems unlikely. An MRI may be necessary.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I have read your query and here is my advice.
Since the CT scan resulted negative, an aneurysm ( mostly a ruptured one ) is very unlikely to be the diagnosis in your case.
However, if it was suspended by your Neurologist, more accurate imaging studies such as MRI with vascular protocol may be necessary for a correct diagnosis.
Discuss with your Neurologist for these issues.
If the MRI comes back negative, then yours are symptoms related to primary headaches.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
