Question : Hello, I am a male, 20 years old, 6 foot 1 inch, 230lbs. The other day I discovered a circular smooth ball about the size of a marble or so right under the skin layer on my right inner thigh about 3 inches from my privates. I have had a similar feeling ball under my skin in my left arm that's been there for as long as I can remember, although it is more pea sized than marble sized. I dont know how long it has been in my thigh but I am kinda worried it might be a serious problem. It doesnt hurt at all but if I squeeze lightly I can feel it a little. Was thinking it may be a cyst or lipoma, but I'm not sure. Hope to get some good news, thanks
Brief Answer:
It looks like Lipoma
Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, the swelling in the Thigh looks like Lipoma. It will be soft, not painful.
Swelling in the arm may also be a Lipoma.Lipoma can occur in multiple sites.
If you want to confirm the diagnosis, you should get it removed surgically and send for Histopathological examination (Biopsy). It is done under local anaesthesia and as a day care procedure.
In Sebaceous cyst, there will be a Dark spot called Punctum over the swelling
Nothing to worry.
please consult a Surgeon and proceed further.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further.
Wish you good health
Regards

"Location in the leg is typical of and inguinal lymph node. However lymph nodes are usually not circular or marble like. even if it is a lymph node I will advise just observation for time being. You need to see a doctor only if it increases in size." I also contacted another doctor off of another website and this was his response, does this seem plausible? I feel like it's more of a lipoma like you suggested, and if it was nothing to worry about would I need to get it removed still? the one in my arms been there a long time and it feels very similar it's just a bit smaller, never given me trouble. thanks
Brief Answer:
You can get an FNAC.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
As the thigh swelling is marble size,I suggested Excision and Biopsy. If you still want the diagnosis without surgery, you can get an FNAC(FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION CYTOLOGY).In this procedure, some tissue is aspirated from the swelling and it is examined under microscope. It will.definitely differentiate Lipoma, Lymph node.
If it comes as Lipoma, it's better to get it removed.
Location of Inguinal Lymph node will be near groin. As your swelling is 3 inches from private parts,it goes in favour of Lipoma.
Please post a picture of your thigh swelling if you have no objection.
Some Lipomas grow rapidly and turn into cancer. So,I advise to get them removed when they are small only.
Hope I answered your question

there is no swelling on the outside of my leg as you can see, it is just under the skin though

smoothe, hardish ball right under the skin layer
Brief Answer:
It is a subcutaneous swelling
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I could not see the picture. You should attach it in the Reports section.
Lipoma or Lymph node in the initial stages will be beneath the skin only.As it enlarges,it lifts the skin.
Most of the swellings can be diagnosed clinically. But,the exact diagnosis is by FNAC or Biopsy.
Hope I answered your question.

Brief Answer:
Your pic is not uploaded
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am sorry to say that the picture is not uploaded.
Any swelling, whether Deep or Superficial, can be diagnosed by FNAC or Biopsy.
Lipoma is a swelling arising from fat tissue. So,it will be deeper initially. It cannot be seen, but can be palpated.
Please consult a Surgeon and proceed further.
