Hello, I Am Seeking Advice For My Grandmother. She Is

Question: Hello,
I am seeking advice for my grandmother. She is a dementia patient with other health conditions; diabetes, cholesterol. In the past few months she has been showing signs of someone with schizophrenia (although this was not diagnosed) but she tends to talk to her self, she’s in a constant state of delirium, she imagines people who are not there and starts talking. So the difficulty we have is she came to Somalia to visit her husband, who was also sick and he passed away just before corona, her ticket was extended due to lockdown. So when she was coming here it was extremely difficult, she was given medication to calm her down as she tends to not move. Now we wanted to bring her back home to the U.K. but getting her from her bed to the living room is a mission. She screams “don’t take me”, “my leg is broken”, “I can’t move” and she has to have two people literally move her and takes baby steps. We try and make her walk as often as she can because otherwise she will literally lose control over her legs and such, but I feel as though making her walk is causing her more trauma and stress, as she is a dementia patient she doesn’t really know when she has a headache but after all the shouting and crying I feel as though she is very uneasy. Could you advise on her situation please? Also should we use a wheelchair to cause her less trauma and stress? Or do we try and keep her walking even though it is causing both her and the family extreme stress? Also, in somalia she has quite a lot of family who look after her and cater to her needs, she lives in a nice villa in a safe area, this house has no stairs etc however our home in the U.K is a 3 story house and with the way she is now almost impossible for her to live there due to movement barriers and needing someone with her 24/7. If we do decide taking her back is our best option, then how do you advise we go about getting her on the plane calmly and efficiently?
I really appreciate your time and what you are doing, please do feel free to ask more if I have not been detailed enough!!

Brief Answer:
You can use a wheelchair.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

Firstly I would advise you to send her to a rheumatologist to check her leg for pathologies which may be causing pain .
If he finds that nothing is wrong with her leg then you can think that it can be related to stress and dementia.
I believe that being in her home in Somalia is the best option.
Having a house in first floor without stairs would be better for her.
You can use a wheelchair to send her to plain and also to move her when she doesn't want to walk.
She needs someone to take care of her most of the time so you can find a nurse to take care of her.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
