Question : Hello, I am super scared. I am 30 years old and have been in the hospital for nephrotic syndrome for the past week which was discovered to be membranous nephropathy. They tested my blood for many conditions which could be a secondary cause including Hepatitis and nothing came up. They cannot figure out why I have MN. Now, they are searching my body formalignancies. I am terrified that an MRI showed a growth on my pancreas. I have no symptoms of pancreatic cancer. No jaundice and no pain. However, a paternal great grandmother died of pancreatic cancer in her 60s. Please look over these notes from my chart. Worse case scenario, if the biopsy finds a malignancy, in your opinion is this something that can be operated on? Does it appear to have been caught early? I am terrified. I am an only child for my mother and I don't want to leave my mom.

also my liver tests like bilirubin are normal. only the albium is abnormal.

                                    Brief Answer:
You seem to not have spread lesions in imaging studies
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I carefully read your query and checked the uploaded chart notes.
I understand your concern and fear with the risk of having pancreatic mass. On the other not all pancreatic masses are cancer and pancreatic cancer mostly happens in elderly, the fact that you have no symptoms and no spread of any lesion in the liver or other organs around or lymphnodes is again reassuring.
You will need to do the test with the camera going from your mouth to reach your pancreas and probably take materials for biopsy. Only than can be known for sure what the mass is.
If you have cancer is it caught early? Yes, you have no symptoms, there is lesions in other organs or lymphnodes found.
Can it be operated on? Very likely yes, because it seems to be no spread of lesions, if it is a cancer, surgery is one of the first choices.
To conclude,
-It is normal to be worried about the pancreatic mass but please give time and place to the needed tests to confirm the diagnosis.
- in the worst scenario, if this is a cancer, it seems it is caught early and surgery very likely can be used to remove the mass.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
I wish you good results on the tests and good health.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
