Hello, I Am Taking 40 Mg Geodon Twice A Day

Question: Hello, I am taking 40 mg Geodon twice a day and 20 mg propranolol three times a day. The geodon was working for two weeks but now it's wearing off and I'm thinking through it and I'm having a lot of anxiety. I had taken abilify in the past but it also wore off. What do you suggest? Is there a geodon extended release? Do you think that would work? Or do you suggest increasing the dosage or adding on a medication or switching to something else? Please tell me what you recommend in this case?

I read your query and understand your concerns.

First of all I like to inform you that till current date no extended release formulations of geodon available. There were cerain media reports of geodon extended release but it never helped in regard to treatment of psychotic disorders. In addition if the immediate release formulation of geodon showing no or limited effect I do not think extended release medication will help in any manner even if it is available.

Since two medications have showed limited effect and you have mentioned about lot of anxiety in addition to your queries which described fear of interaction with different medications (I think I answered you on multiple occasions over the last one year) Seroquel or Zyprexa should be the next best choice. Both the suggested medications show good effect on psychotic symptoms (delusions and hallucinations) as well as anxiety and depressive symptoms.
