Question : Hello, I am taking trileptal 300 mg twice a day for mood stabilization, 5 mg propranolol twice a day for tachycardia, 100 mg luvox in the morning for OCD, 150 mg wellbutrin XL in the morning for depression, and 0.5 mg of klonopin twice a day for anxiety. I would like to take 300 mg trileptal once a day instead of twice a day. Please give me tapering instructions. Thank you. I am taking it for mood stabilization not seizures.

First of all I like to inform you that the decision to lower the dose of trileptal should be in consultation with your doctor rather than online consultation.

Lowering of dose of trileptal can cause serious problems such as reappearance of mood swings and affective symptoms.

In case your doctor agrees with your decision to lower the dose of trileptal you can proceed in following manner.

First week trileptal 200 mg in morning and 300 mg in evening
Second week 100 mg in morning and 300 mg in evening
Third week 300 mg once a day.
