I had a PET scan today and the person who did it didn't realize until after the scan that I had 4 small buttons at the back of my top, which I wore during the scan. Will this impact the scan results? It was a straight PET only, no CT.

Thanks for writing in to us.
In most occasions buttons are made of plastic material and should not cause any problems with the PET and CT scan images.
Metallic buttons can cause artefacts in the CT images.
The PET can findings are not affected by the buttons plastic or metallic.
