Hello, I Have A Nagging Tickle In The Top Of

Question: Hello, I have a nagging tickle in the top of my lungs, bottom of my throat, that causes me to cough occasionally.

I shout some for my work, and I sing frequently, so I'm curious if I have damaged my voice in some way, but I am also unsure if it's potentially related to a food/airborne allergy. I am also unsure of what type of Doctor to visit, as it is deep in my throat, but not quite in my lungs.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Ent and allergy specialist

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor'

I can understand your concern

As you explain your symptoms in my opinion you should see the ENT doctor and a specialist of the allergies also. If you want to check the lung a chest X ray and a spirometry test are sufficient. If they come negativ than no lung problems.

The ENT doctor will examine the larynx and if he or she sees indirect signs of allergy will advise you to control for allergies. Total IgE Pneumoalergens and Prick skin tests are needed. But please try to discuss with your doctor the above as well.

Hope to have been helpful

Great, thank you. I have done some research and it seems that allergy testing is an imprecise science, and might prove to be a long and difficult path to solve. Do you have any recommendations for Allergy testing, and anything I should be looking for in an Allergist?

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

There are some lab test that you can do for allergies such as IgE total Pneumoalergens and skin prick tests . After you should take treatment with antihistamins like Telefast 2 X 1 TB per day orally.

You can discuss with your doctor for this

Thank you! I have some suspicions that it may be Acid Reflux, though I do not have any other symptoms that generally accompany Acid Reflux. Is that a possibility?

Brief Answer:
Gastric reflux might be another cause

Detailed Answer:

Yes it also might be. If you suspect than be careful with the food no spicy no smoking not a lot of liquids and see if you will feel better with this or not.
