Question : Hello , I have acne issues on my face and sometimes on scalp, One or two of them are cystic acne , Ive read that I have to take antibiotics to help prevent it, question is can i take any kind of antibiotics while iam on roaccutane pills which is 30mg daily?

Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

While on roaccutane, you may take an aminoglycoside group of oral antibiotic e.g Azithromycin. The tetracyclines traditionally recommended for cystic / Nodular acne are not to be taken while on roaccutane as there is a risk of pseudotumor cerebri which may manifest as headache and blurred vision.
