Question : Hello! I have been experiencing a weird head feeling for the last 6 weeks. It feels like a tingling/numbness in forehead and is almost always there. It doesn’t affect my thinking, vision, balance, or sleep, it’s just a physical feeling and an annoyance (it is not painful in any way). I had a similar feeling about 3 years ago and it seemed to go away after about a month but this time it’s a bit worse. Some things I think could have caused it but I’m not sure, so I wanted to check with a specialist before I go and spend a lot of money on tests that might not be necessary if it’s not a huge concern.

For starters, I’m a 31-year-old female in great health. I’ve had blood work done recently and nothing is out of the ordinary. I do not have blood pressure problems, it has always been in the normal range.

The only thing I could think of that could be causing this is either allergies, too much caffeine, or something neurological. Between the beginning of May and end of July, I was drinking an enormous amount of caffeine (probably close to 400 or 500mg) and in mid-July I decreased my caffeine intake to 1 cup per day and as of today, have totally given up caffeine. I also take allergy medication daily and it doesn’t seem to help either.

My main question is whether or not this seems like a concern or something random that will go away on its own. Thank you for your help!

Brief Answer:
Appears nothing serious

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Although it will be premature to comment without physically examining you but the available description indicate self limiting nature of problem.

My observation is based on the fact that you are thirty one year young where serious disorders associated with tingling are almost non existent.

In addition history of similar problem in past with self resolution in a month indicates non serious nature of problem.

Additionally presence of normal vision, thinking, locomotor activity almost confirms the above observation.

I feel you need to check vitamin B12 level or take appropriate supplement as caffeine causes malabsorption of essential vitamins including vitamin B12.

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
