Hello I Really Need Advice. I Have A 27-year-old Daughter

Question: Hello I really need advice. I have a 27-year-old daughter who had a lumbar puncture in one month ago. The doctor had only done to my daughter being the second patient. We have not known that info before hand. She’s having headaches seven weeks in after the lumbar puncture six hours later she urinated herself. Since then she has had shoulder pain lower back pain some urination. Dribbling Enough to wear a light day pad. She has had two MRIs to rule out any leads or any compression. The doctors at this point you’re saying they don’t know what happened could not have been from the lumbar puncture. We just recently started massage therapy on her. The left side of her butt is totally numb and her groin area feels cold and numb. The inner size of her legs are numb.
Brief Answer:
Back pain probably not related to lumbar puncture.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I am sorry to hear about this situation with your daughter. I also want to know some more details like why did she do the lumbar puncture for, the type of intervention she had, the results of MRI of lower spine showed no issues of nerve roots of low back pain where the injection was done.
Probably the symptoms may be related to intervention not to lumbar puncture.
The headache is a common complicon of lumbar puncture but it resolves within days. In rare cases can last up to a month.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

The reason they did the lumbar puncture was because my daughter has had a headache for seven weeks. She did not have any sort of Back Problem at all until after the lumbar puncture. They did follow up with two MRIs to be sure there was not a compression. The doctor that did the lumbar puncture used a size 20 needle. She has a lot of lower back pain shoulder pain and groin discomfort including numbness in periodically cold patch feeling.
Brief Answer:
Incontinence possibly caused by puncture.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again. I am sorry to hear about this situation with your daughter. The puncture seems to be done with the right needle size. Possibly she may need an MRI of back with contrast and the interpretation of a neurologist is needed.
I think the incontinence problem may be related to the puncture since she initially didn't have it. Visit a neurologist as soon as possible.
