Hello. I Usually Take Relvar Ellipta 92/22 As An Asthma
Question: Hello. I usually take Relvar Ellipta 92/22 as an asthma prevention. My asthma being pretty bad recently, my General Practitioner told me to take double dose (two inhales a day). After reading the instructions of the medicine I realised that it was fine to double the fluticasone fuorate but not vilanterol which is already the maximum daily dose. Do you concur to say that double dose of this medicine is fine ?
Brief Answer:
Start nebuliser instead of inhaler
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in Ask the Doctor
I can understand your concern
Yes I agree with you that vilanterol should not be doubled the dosage. In such conditions if you were my patient I would recommend you to stop Elipta inhaler and to start nebuliser with Clenil C twice per day for one week. After the situation gets better than you should come back in Elipta inhalers again.
You will get better soon.,no worries just start nebuliser.
Hope to have been helpful

Thank you for your response.
My GP has specifically said double dose of ellipta. Are there any risk to take the double dose then ?

Detailed Answer:
Hi again
The point is not that it may harm but I'd does not help more because its time of action is 12 hours.
You can take it but it will not help in your situation.
