Question : Hello , I’m 38 yrs in age & I’m perfectly healthy sportsman. I have an issue with tea & coffee. I just love tea & coffee but soon after having it I suffer from too much mucus in my throat & sometime it gets very uncomfortable too . That’s why I avoid tea & coffee despite I like it very much .

Do you think I have intolerance to tea & coffee or is it because of some allergy with the ingredients? Is there any medication that can help me . I wish to enjoy tea & coffee without experiencing too much mucus which is sometime very uncomfortable.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Coffee/tea can make your mucus secretions thick

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting us with your health concern

Coffee and tea are dehydrating and can make your mucus secretions thick. This is especially prominent if you add milk/milk-based creamer to coffee and tea.

Make sure that you drink water and stay hydrated after consuming coffee/tea. Also, try avoiding milk in coffee.

There is no need to take any medications as of now.

Hope I was able to help you

Hello , I really appreciate your understanding regarding my issue with coffee .

I Heard it from friend of mine that this allergy can be overcome if we follow some medication course usually anti allergy or montelukast .

Actually I like coffee as I told you & while I’m with my family & friends they offer me coffee but I avoid it because immediately it produces mucus & I need to spit out of my mouth & cleaning of nose & throat is not a comfortable thing. Please suggest some mild & simple remedy that solve this issue .

I have done many experiment like not adding milk to tea & coffee or adding salt but it does not work .

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Consider taking antihistamine like loratidine

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

If allergy is causing more mucus secretions, then consider taking Loratidine 10 mg (brand name: Claritin available over the counter) once daily until the symptoms improve.
