Hello Im 57 And Just Had A Routine Physical And

Question: Hello Im 57 and just had a routine physical and blood work up with chest xray and ct of the heart and arteries. All blood work was within normal limits except slightly elevated cholesterol at 221. I am on no meds and dr said drop 10 lbs and start exercising again. I just saw results from chest xray which says normal and on the ct heart it says 0% calcium in every artery and that it was normal and 0% of adults my age have less plaque buildup so I guess my heart is fine too. On the bottom of the radiology report non cardiac related it says small hiatal hernia on posterior mediastinum and prominent cardiophrenic and paraesophageal lymph nodes noted in mediastinum which measure up to 6mm. Would I have elevated white or red blood cell count if its Cancer? Do I need to have a chest biopsy? I have no symptoms other than indigestion. No fatigue, weight loss or fever and I feel fine. Please help if you can as Im a cancer patient advocate who raises money for the terminally ill and Im worried now and paranoid. Both my parents are alive in their 80s and other than a half pea shaped lump removed from my moms breast there is no family history with cancer
Brief Answer:
A biopsy should be done.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for query my dear,
I've read your details--
Answers are-
1) Depends on the nature of pathology (the type and stages of cancer) if it involves bone marrow where RBC and WBC's are born their number would be grossly altered. However, it's not seen in all cases of cancer.
2) Yes, since the lymph nodes are up to 6mm in size. A biopsy should be done ideally.
Ideally and prophylactically you should get a biopsy done.
Prevention is always better than cure.
I don't take chances on my patients.
Hope your results would be ok.
Be positive and please don't panic, everything would be fine.
Hope I was helpful.
Follow-ups are most welcome.
Regards.
