Question : Hello I’m still worried about a food allergy. Today I ate these muffins I made. They had almond, soy, egg, maple, and chocolate. I really had no symptoms when eating the muffins except for some tongue tingling. No swelling or hives. About an hour after eating I got very flushed and my heart started racing. Then that stopped after a few minutes. Now I am convinced I am allergic to everything. My anxiety is making it so much worse. I ate five of the muffins. What do you think? Thanks.

I can understand your concern

As you explain the history of your symptoms it might be a light allergy due to several food allergens. Fortunately this is a very light reaction. However to be more sure if it is such a reaction in order for differentiating it from anxiety you can use an antihistamine such as Cetirizin tb once orally and try to avoid that foods. If it improves or get off completely your symptoms than it was an allergy. If not than anxiety is the main cause of your symptoms. However it would be better for you to discuss with your doctor also in future to order some allergy blood and skin tests for you if you symptoms repeat.

Nevertheless even if it is an allergic reaction it is not a light one and I don't think something serious will happen to you. No worries
