Question: Hello

My daughter is 10 months old. We recently came to XXXXXXX from abroad. Upon arrival she had a bout of indigestion , diarahhea and light fever. We contacted our doctor and he suggested us 4ml of Taxim -o (Cefixime 50 mg) twice a day and bifilac

Today morning my daughter has a runny nose, and a light fever again, and she is sneezing once or twice every 2 hours. I have given paracetamol pediatric, 1ml in the morning.
Can you suggest some remedies for the same.

Thank You

Thanks for writing to us.
Based on your description, it looks like your daughter has a viral upper respiratory infection along with gastroenteritis.
The cold should settle in a few days.
It is better to continue medicines as advised by your Pediatrician. Along with that for sneezing and cold, you can try antihistamines like Cetrizine which I usually prescribe in my clinic for such patients. I usually prescribe Cetirizine syrup 2 ml twice daily for a few days for such patients.
If child worsens or if there is no improvement in a day or two, better to get him reexamined by your doctor.

Ok Doc. Her Gastroentritis is normal now after having 3 days of Cefixime Antibiotics and Bifilac.

But she is getting irritated with runny nose and sneezing and crying out frequently.

Since she is 10 months old only, can i start off with Cetrizine 2ml twice daily from today ? I guess that will help her sleep also
