Hello: My Husband Is 62. He Has Excama Being Treated

Question: Hello: My husband is 62. He has excama being treated by Eucrisa ointment - 2% prescribed by doctor a year ago. Continued use. The excama is in the entire buttock area from top of buttock's but not reaching to the rectum (opening). From what I saw last night, the area was purplish gray (against chocolate XXXXXXX XXXXXXX skin), a bit redish in areas, a bit seeping and some slightly round blotches on top of the area affected. The outer area of the affected area was becoming hard and swollen. I immediately had him take a warm bath to remove the Eucrisa cream and cleaned the area. He said that the warm water aided the itching and burning. I told him to put nothing on the affected area; but, to sleep without his undershorts so that air could circulate into the affected area. He also took liquid Benedryl. This morning, the major discoloring of purple was gone. The swollen area of excema has decreased noticeably. Looking up for home remedies, we put gel form of Aloe Vera-100% gel to delete risk of drying during the day. He also took another dose of Benedryl before leaving for work. (He went to bed at 11:00pm and awoke for work prep. at 4:30am. If a few hours, these bad symptoms had decreased. He has a doctor appointment for March 26th. Any thoughts on next steps. I prefer to use more herbal or home remedies as he has placed several kinds of creams combined on the area along with the Eucrisa (before he showed me last night the affects). One cream was a Preparation H hemroid cream and something else that I am not sure title.
ADDITIONALLY: He found a swollen nodule in the front groin area about the size of a green pea vegetable. It was not sensitive to touch last night but was a bit sensitive this morning. I understand that infections in one area can cause swollen lymph nodes in other areas.

Last night he found a nodule in the groin area (perhaps the INGUINAL Lymph node) the size of a green pea vegetable. No noticeable sensitivity to touch last night; however, was slightly sensitive to touch this morning. Can you confirm any thoughts on this nodule? I know that nodules (lymph) often appear with infection...…..
The other topical cream that he had been placing on the purplish eczema was
NEOSPORIN Eczema essentials ...Dail moisturizing cream. by Relipid. He mentioned that this did not seem to stop any itching or burning up to last night. He does have a general itching in the groin area that has continued for several months. This also was being treated by the Eucrisa; but, did not seem to be eliminated. Does stress also add to the general itching and increase in the eczema?

….What symptoms do I need to be aware of for the slight infection besides the swelling if this might increase before March 26th appointment. I know that general fatigue and temperature increase may happen, right?
...He has been treated in the past year and half for a seemingly fungal symptom that occurred on his back. It seemed to be causing discoloring of his skin from "chocolate" to a beige. It did continue down into the "presently affected area of the eczema" but looked nothing like what I saw last night in the purplish swelling. The dermatologist had given him a cream to place on his back. He also advised to periodically go to the tanning bed to cover the discoloration. My husband does not seem to complain about the "fungus" system when the tanning bed heat is being applied to the area. ( Not sure if all that I just wrote might be connected?)
