                                            Question : Hello.
On 3/21/19, I had a sexual encounter. I engaged in kissing and I rimmed the person.
On 4/6/19 I spiked a fever and had a sore throat. The sore throat just lasted a day but after that I was coughing a lot with discolored mucus. Despite testing negative for strep and a negative flu swab, I was diagnosed with influenza a put on tamiflu.
On 4/10/19, my breathing became worse. Went in for chest x Ray and blood work. Chest clear and my Mean Platelet volume was low at 8.7. I was then put on Zithromax.
I slowly got better and felt fully recovered this past Saturday, 4/20/19. However, yesterday on 4/22/19 I had a runny nose (clear mucus) and now I’m coughing again and spiked a fever of 102.2
My question is could I have contacted HIV and does this sound similar to ARS symptoms. I’m scared right now.
Thank you.

                                    Brief Answer:
Throat infection is quite common after rimming activity.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
With rimming and close intimacy, there was every chance for you to get throat infection due to bacterial infection.. That could even relapse or reinfected from a new source. That did not indicate necessarily the symptoms of HIV primary infection.
With kissing and rimming HIV risk would be negligible.
Only HIV tests can rule out the possibility of HIV infection.

Would it be worth getting an HIV test after an encounter with just rimming?

                                    Brief Answer:
Possibility of different types of Flu virus or due to other microorganisms
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
FLU could be caused by three different types of virus eg. A, B, C. There is no definite cross-immunity between these viruses.
So there is every possibility for one to have a relapse or re-infection with FLU virus after a recent episode.
Another possibility is one of the attacks could be due to the FLU virus, whereas another could be due to a bacterial infection or due to some other cold virus causing the same symptoms.
